KooKi Sushi Confections

posted: Tuesday January 23, 2007 - 10:50 AM

Kooki Sushi

By replacing such ingredients as ikura (salmon roe) with apricot gummi, maguro (tuna) with strawberry flavored chocolate, lemon meringue for tamago (egg) and coconut for tako (octopus), Koo-Ki Sushi has created a unique and wholly new style of sushi - a confection!

These along with other ingredients such as white almonds, green tea, rice cookies, dark chocolate and caramel are used to trick the eye into seeing something that looks like sushi but tastes like a sweet treat.

Each edible work of art is carefully pieced together by hand from the sweets. The Sushi is then assembled into imported Japanese obento boxes to complete the effect.

Prices are in the $20-70 range and available for purchase online and from Koo-Ki Sushi's San Jose retail store.

Commonwealth has a nice selection of some hard to find Original Fake accessories (most sold out already) and some of the latest tees and hoodies as well. Check the site for more pictures.

Kaws is a mastermind of talent and marketing genius having pioneered a subversive style that's even been famously co-opted by Captain Morgan Spiced Rum.

As reported earlier, there's a Kaws interview from 1996 on graffiti.org - back when he was still actively doing graffiti. Some great pics there as well.

Brooklyn Industries Mega Sale

Brooklyn Industries is having a spectacular sale on tons of their gear from the last season. They've tiered the prices nicely - seperating things into $10-$19, $29-$39, and $59-$79 and men/women/bags & accessories of course.

Personally I picked up a sweater, two pairs of pants and two polos. I paid less than $100 for the lot!

Tumi's Escape Winter Sale

Tumi's Escape Winter Sale

Tumi is a creator of impeccably designed and manufactured bags, wallet, purses and carriers. A good friend of mine used to work there and convinced me of its quality and along with an employee discount hooked me up with the best laptop bag I've ever owned.

I didn't even know Tumihad sales so it's pretty sweet to see just about everything from last season discounted heftily. Tumi is calling it a "discountinued styles and colors' sale but trust me - if you're in the market for a new bag stop by Tumi's online shop first and nevermind which seasons' colors are which.
