It's been a while since I posted on any new shoes purchases but trust that I'm still in the game. For a minute there I was positively obsessed with New Balance but then I got really into Nike. I think New Balance wins out because of the fit and great price point. The premium releases are around $120 but most 574's are only $80 or so which means you can pick up 2 for the price of one pair of Air Jordan's. Now they might not be as hype as a pair of Jordan's but they're definitely fresh and the likelyhood that you'll bump into someone wearing the same pair as you is pretty slim.

These are the New Balance 100 Years in white/grey/navy. They're also available in brown but look much nicer in this colorway. They go with just about everything ad look mighty clean. The navy blue sole is a nice touch as is the reflective heel and logo. As with all premium New Balance shoes the leather is soft to the touch.

BTW: If you're in the bay cop these at Turf Shoes in San Mateo!

Nike Jordan Pack and Adventure Pack @ Kicks/HI

These have got to be some of the freshest Dunks I've seen in a while and the Air Max 1's are a stop drop and roll to put out the fire up with a quickness.

The white dunks are the Low CLs from the Jordan Pack and the Grey/Green/Army dunks are the Low CLs from the Adventure Pack - both of them packing serious heat.

What's really got me though are these Air Max 1's from the adventure pack. I've watched a bunch of the AM1's get released over the last year and only 1 of them struck my fancy (the Air Max One Team Red that I picked up back in April). Since then I've honestly just been waiting for something equally dope to come out. I'm going to try and make my way over to HUF and Niketown tomorrow to get a good look at some of these in person.

Update Nov. 30: I just got word that these are available locally at Turf in San Mateo as well...

Adidas Cities Collection @ Zappos

posted: Monday November 27, 2006 - 8:47 AM

Zappos has 4 shoes from the Adidas cities collection. This is the halfshell lo model and each shoe in the collection is emblazoned with its own unique design and colorway. The styles aren't really my cup of tea personally but it's nice to see some of the more limited stufff available from Zappos.

Trivia bit: I used to buy all of my shoes from Zappos before Turf opened in San Mateo. Now it's all Turf and Niketown all the time...

Price: $85 (free shipping)

Jungle Life x Nike ID = Air Max 90 Mud

Jungle Life Air Max 90 Mud- Combo
I actually customized these Air max 90's back in early September but it took 21 more days before they shipped and another week or so before theyarrived. All in all just shy of a month for a pair of customized Air max 90s from NikeID.com.

Too bad I didn't grab some screen shots of the "build" process because I was quite surprised when they arrived. The orange is brighter than I imagined it would and I hadn't quite realized the gold would come out looking so well. Good news is that the orange is mostly hidden when worn with pants (a must for San Francisco) but peeks out just enough to add a dash of flash. Also worth noting is that all kinds of extras went into giving you that cutomized shoes satisfaction - premium box, soft shoe bag, custom insoles, the works!

I think the color choices came out real nice as well.I've always been a fan of the natural color palette and with Fall upon us the time is ripe for some browns, golds, and orange.

At any rate, my first experience with Nike ID has been a positive one and I'll definitely try again. Here's a tip though - if you're looking to customize a pair of shoes be sure to start with the item that has the least number of choices - in other words, if you've only got 3 choices for sole color then you better start with that first so you get a sense of the limitations with complementary colors.

So there you have it. Jungle Life x Nike ID = Air Max 90 Mud

$90 for the shoe + $7 Shipping/handling and $8.25 Sales Tax = $105.25. ~28 day turnaround
