Recommended Hip-Hop: De La Soul - Impossible Mission Part I

De La Soul - Impossible Mission Part I
Not quite a new album but neither a greatest hits CD, this is a De La mixtape and not a major-label release. For fans of De La Soul this is a must-buy. The album features a great series of narrrations of their classic songs - explaining the history behind each track and the mindframe they were in when they were first recorded.

There's a few unreleased tracks with explanations why they were never released (pretty funny comments on there) and some new stuff in there as well. Priced a bit steep (due to its rarity) but you can find it for as low as $16 by searching around. Highly recommended! A real cohesive De La mixtape and definitely something to keep you baited after The Grind Date and before their next full-length.

Features production by: Oh No (Murs, LMNO), Geology (Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Jill Scott, Bahamadia), Supa Dave West (Phife Dawg, Reflection Eternal, MeShell Ndegeocello), and De La Soul themselves.

gas 0095
gas 0095 was the debut album of electronic musician Mat Jarvis released under his Gas moniker. It was written, performed and recorded in his Nottingham studio during 1994 and released on Em:t Records in January 1995. The album was never advertised and quickly sold on word of mouth alone. Today it is much sought after, usually changing hands for over $100, and occasionally reaching over $350 on eBay.

Due to overwhelming demand, gas 0095 has been re-mastered and released into the wild. This first release on the new microscopics label has been a much sought after item for collectors everywhere.

Painstakingly remastered at 32bit/96khz from the original studio tapes, with a luxurious 32db dynamic range - which in these days of hyper-compressed music is pure oxygen.

The 320k hi-fi version includes an exclusive booklet of artwork, plus postcard, bookmark and the ultra rare 'time recording guide to particle physics'.

Jeff Koons X Supreme

Jeff Koons X SupremeJeff Koons X Supreme
Jeff Koons creates what's been dubbed Neo Pop artworks and sculpture. The American born artist, and ex Wall Street broker, gained international notoriety in the 1980s by taking popular culture items and turning them into controversial, yet highly valued pieces.

In 1988, Koons cast a life size porcelain sculpture of Michael Jackson reclining with his pet monkey, Bubbles, which sold years later for over 5 million dollars at Sotheby's. Koons' work often employs cartoonish imagery that extends to a larger cultural tradition and art history, and both explores and blurs the distinction between low, commercial aesthetics and high art.

In line with his capacity for creating accessible sculpture, Koons recently collaborated with Supreme to produce a new variety of monkey imagery with surreal backgrounds on a set of skateboard decks.

Available September 19th in Supreme stores worldwide.
